Professional Statement
Dr. Andrea Braun is board certified in Internal Medicine, Nephrology and Critical Care Medicine. After graduating from the prestigious Ruprecht-Karls University Medical School in Heidelberg, Germany, she pursued training in the UK, Germany, and then moved to the US, where she received her internal medicine residency training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She pursued a nephrology fellowship at Harvard, at the Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, and then trained as a fellow in critical care medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.Currently, Dr. Braun practices critical care in the ICU at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center and is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. She is the Associate Program Director for the Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program at Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Braun is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP) and serves on the Education Outcomes Subcommittee of Chest and the Education Committee of APCCMPD (Association of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Program Directors).
She is passionate about educating the next generation of critical care physicians and improving patient safety and quality of care in the ICU.
During her training, Dr. Braun conducted basic science research in immunology/rheumatology at the Mayo Clinic, in nephrology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and clinical research about the role of vitamin D in critical care while at Harvard.
