Professional Statement
Charmaine was raised in the lush, rolling hills of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She loved experiencing the four seasons and decided to stay in North Carolina for both undergraduate studies and medical school at Duke University. However, yearning for warmer weather and a bigger city-feel, she was excited to start residency in Houston. She enjoys living with another Med-Peds co-intern from the exact opposite side of the country (California), whom she met on her interview day at Baylor. She is appreciative of both the diversity of the patient population in Houston and of the medical training at Baylor in both categorical Internal Medicine and Pediatrics programs. She loves speaking French, which she learned growing up, but also hopes to learn Spanish while in Houston.
Charmaine has a strong interest in global health, translational research, and infectious diseases and hopes to explore these fields as well as the multitude of other opportunities available through Med-Peds training.
