Professional Statement
Dr. Tamez is a licensed psychologist in the State of Texas and has considerable experience treating mood and personality disorders. She received her BA in Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University and her MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology from Texas AandM University. During her graduate training, she worked with a diverse population utilizing empirically based treatments. She completed her pre-doctoral internship through the Adult/Child track at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), where she gained more generalized clinical training in treating individuals across the lifespan, with varying psychiatric conditions, on both an inpatient/outpatient basis. Dr. Tamez completed a year-long post-doctoral fellowship at Ben Taub Hospital where she was able to focus more of her training with severe mood and personality disorders and gaining more experience with Dialectical Behavior Therapy. She later completed a second year post-doctoral fellowship working more extensively with severe brain injured patients and families. Dr. Tamez currently holds a position as Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine and also serves as a clinical supervisor for both pre- and post-doctoral psychology trainees and psychiatry residents.Websites
