Professional Statement
Dr. Meroë B. Morse is a double board-certified internal and integrative medicine physician and an assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. A graduate of Brown University, Dr. Morse received her medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine, completed her residency training at New York University-Bellevue Hospital, and subsequently graduated from her Fellowship in Integrative Medicine through the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine—Tucson. As an Integrative Internal Medicine physician, Dr. Morse's career mission has been to empower, educate, and advocate for patients in their journey toward better health. She has provided comprehensive, evidence-based, and compassionate medical care to the patients of the Harris Health System since 2016 when she joined Baylor College of Medicine as a clinician-educator.
Dr. Morse approaches the practice of medicine through a biopsychosocial model of care, recognizing that more than 80% of health outcomes are determined by factors beyond clinical care – factors such as patients’ socioeconomics, home environment, and modifiable health behaviors. She specializes in the use of integrative strategies to prevent, reverse, and manage chronic conditions in her patient population within the Harris Health System. Her role as a primary care physician includes coordinating care with sub-specialists and medical team members to maximize the communication bandwidth with these consultants and achieve timely care for her patients. With each patient encounter, she addresses medical concerns and, systematically, identifies the social determinants of health that may be barriers to achieving wellness. As a patient advisor, Dr. Morse guides patients through the healthcare system, avoiding the pitfalls of non-evidenced-based care while empowering them to make meaningful changes in their health journey.
Dr. Morse uses her fellowship training to focus her interests on promoting wellness among her colleagues and trainees. She is the Co-Chair of the Ben Taub Department of General Internal Medicine Wellness Committee and one of the lead faculty facilitators of the Internal Medicine Resident Wellness Committee.
Dr. Morse was awarded by her resident trainees in 2017 the recognition as Best Teaching Attending - Ambulatory Care Clinic and was recognized in March 2019 as one of Baylor College of Medicine’s Women of Excellence Award recipients.
During her free time, she loves to spend time exploring the outdoors with her three children and her husband.
