Professional Statement
Identification and purification of Anti-tumor agents from Chinese medicine. Herbal Medicine has been a common therapeutic approach for various illnesses, including cancerous tumors, for centuries. It was found that the extract from the husk of a plant (Xanthoceras sorbifolia Bunge (Sapindaceae)) contain saponins that have anti-tumor effect. The active compound was purified and modified. In vitro studies with the compound show that it inhibits cancer cells’ growth. Application of this drug and the structure/function relationship is the focus of current research. The goal of this project is to identify the cellular target site and to understand the drug mechanism.Websites
