Professional Statement
Ritwick Agrawal MD is an Assistant Professor in the Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine Section at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Agrawal currently serves at the Sleep Program for the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center, which serves a large population of veterans with sleep apnea, insomnia, and other sleep disorders. In addition to the practice of sleep medicine, his clinical practice includes working in the Medical Intensive Care Unit and Pulmonary Medicine service. Dr. Agrawal is a clinical educator with a commitment to education in sleep medicine for medical trainees and practicing physicians. He has been awarded outstanding faculty of the year on multiple occasions.Dr. Agrawal has been active in numerous local and national committees and leadership roles.
He is a crucial member of the core curriculum of the sleep medicine fellowship program. He has been invited as an expert speaker at various national organizations such as the American College of Chest Physicians and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. He was the director of the "Sleep Medicine in Primary Care" regional symposium in 2019. He serves on the Sleep Network for the American College of Chest Physicians. He is also the co-chairman of the sepsis task force at that Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center.
Dr. Agrawal's research interest primarily involves sleep disorders, including obstructive and central sleep apnea and insomnia. He has been invited as a participant of the Young Investigator research forum of the American Academy of sleep medicine. He has published in various peer-reviewed journals. He has authored book chapters related to sleep medicine as well.
Dr. Agrawal's clinical interests include sleep-disordered breathing and sepsis. His clinical practice includes traditional face to face visits as well as telemedicine.
