These guidelines provide members of the Baylor community with information on how to participate in legislative debate and discussion and/or become involved in political campaigns without potentially impacting the College’s federal tax-exempt status.
Diversity and Equity Statistics
According to the Association of American Medical College's Diversity Engagement Survey, Baylor's community ranked in the top third among institutions for having an inclusive environment. See the annual diversity and inclusion profiles for the College.
Initiatives
In alignment with Baylor College of Medicine’s mission, vision and values, diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives are developed and implemented by stakeholders and organizations throughout the College that include the Inclusion and Equity Faculty and Staff Ambassadors, the Inclusion and Excellence Council, Baylor COATS, and councils, task forces and committees within schools and departments. Initiatives are intended to broaden the pathway for individuals who are underrepresented in medicine and science to pursue careers in healthcare and research, ensure patients from diverse racial and cultural backgrounds have access to healthcare services, promote employment opportunities at Baylor to diverse populations of Houston, and use small and diverse companies for the College’s supply needs.
Baylor’s leadership has committed to equity and inclusion for all members of the community and has signed the Association of American Medical College’s Gender Equity Pledge and approved this statement that is currently being implemented: Strengthening Our Commitment to Racial Justice to Improve Public Health.
