Texas Medical Center pulls together to combat COVID-19

April 8, 2020

Dear Members of the Baylor College of Medicine Community,

All of us are very interested in COVID-19’s spread in the community, as well as what is being done to combat it. The Texas Medical Center CEOs have been meeting daily, for weeks, discussing all of these issues. We have a phone call each morning, seven days a week. I wanted to share with you a new dashboard that is available on the website that provides information in a number of areas: Infection Rate in the Greater Houston Area, Action Taken to Increase Capacity in the TMC, TMC ICU Bed Capacity Modeling, TMC Ventilator Capacity Modeling, Current COVID-19 Related Patients and TMC System Equipment and PPE Needs.

This is a great resource for health care providers and all Houstonians.

I am very proud to be part of this leadership group at the Texas Medical Center. President and CEO Bill McKeon has bought us all together in a spirit of collaboration that rarely has been seen. All institutions together are working to protect and treat members of this community.

Within this crisis, we have pulled together in a spirit of community that should make us all feel confident.

Paul Klotman, M.D.
