Dear Members of the Baylor College of Medicine Community,
If you have questions about the different COVID tests, this week’s video should answer them. I go over the various tests, explaining how they work and how to use them, as well as the meaning of false positives and false negatives.
Also of interest this week is our relationship with the country of Botswana. Not only did Baylor support the development of the first medical school in the country, but Botswana also was the location of the first pediatric AIDS clinic in Sub-Saharan Africa as part of the Baylor International Pediatric AIDS initiative at Texas Children’s Hospital. I was honored last week to host His Excellency President Mokgweetsi Masisi and his delegation to renew our agreement of collaboration for the medical school.
Botswana had one of the biggest problems in Africa with COVID cases, but the situation is now improving. The leaders are very committed to vaccination and for our visit, everyone involved was required to be fully vaccinated. We are definitely aligned in our seriousness about ending this pandemic.
Nationally and locally, the numbers are not where they need to be. Getting more people vaccinated continues to be the key.
Have a great weekend. Stay safe.
