Fellows meet on a weekly basis for informal teaching sessions. There are regular “retreats” where updates on research projects, literature, and performance feedback are discussed.

Additionally, fellows are encouraged to participate in Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology educational activities, such as Grand Rounds, pre-operative rounds and M&M conferences at Ben Taub Hospital, journal clubs, as well as other selected educational opportunities at St. Luke’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine fellows are also involved in several resident and student education forums as instructors. These include weekly sessions teaching the residents and medical students about various aspects of minimally invasive surgery.

Journal Club

Content

Journal Club is held every month. This is a multi-disciplinary meeting that includes gynecologists, general surgeons, colorectal surgeons, and urologists. All faculty, residents, and fellows are invited. The fellow is responsible for selecting journal articles, reviewing one article, and assigning the others.

Additionally, the fellow is invited and encouraged to attend the resident journal club which takes place eight times per academic year.
