Research activities at Texas Children’s Hospital as well as Baylor College of Medicine and its affiliated hospitals add an important facet to the Child Neurology and Neurodevelopmental Disabilities Residency Programs. Clinical and Basic Science research opportunities are available to all residents throughout their training. Specific seminars that help residents to learn basic and advanced research skills include theTexas Children’s Hospital Fellows College, which provides monthly meetings for residents to collaborate with colleagues in other pediatrics sub-specialties while learning aspects of research design as well as grant development. Faculty members offer strong support for those residents who choose to participate in research projects. Large clinical research projects can receive additional support from the Research Regulatory Office at Baylor College of Medicine, to include statistical analysis of data, grant submissions, and clinical research coordinator support.

The Basic Neuroscience Child Neurology Residency Track follows a specific curriculum through the course of training that prepares the graduate for a successful basic science research grant submission by the conclusion of their training.
