The Radiation Oncology clerkship is designed to give the medical student a close-up view of the intricacies of radiation therapy from the initial consult through the specialized treatment planning and finally to the treatment of the patient. Rotating students typically spend one week at each of our main teaching hospitals located in the Texas Medical Center, including:

  • Ben Taub Hospital—Harris Health System Smith Clinic
  • Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Hospital
  • St. Luke's Radiation Therapy and CyberKnife®
  • Houston Methodist Hospital

Medical students will participate in all aspects of patient care and treatment planning. An interesting case presentation and review of the supporting literature is required prior to the completion of your rotation.

Clerkship applications for visiting medical students are submitted through the AAMC Visiting Student Application Service (VSAS).
