Kimberly Rebello, M.D., and Samantha Xu, recieved awards at the 25th Gill Heart and Vascular Institute Cardiovascular Research Day held Oct. 28, 2022 in Lexington at the University of Kentucky Saha Cardiovascular Research Center. 

Dr. Rebello received the 2nd Place Outstanding Postdoctoral Fellow Poster Presentation award for her work. She is in her second year of working in the Aortic Disease Research Laboratory with the NIH T32 Research Training Program in Cardiovascular Surgery. She is a categorical resident in the general surgery residency program at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. 

Samantha Xu received the award for Outstanding Rapid Fire Presentation for her work titled “Mitochondrial Metabolism Dynamics in Sporadic Aortic Aneurysms and Acute Dissections.” Sami is visiting from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, completing her one-year Sarnoff Cardiovascular Research Fellowship in the Aortic Disease Research Laboratory.
