Professional Statement
My work focuses on analyzing and improving the quality of clinical and surgical care in the field of retinal diseases. I am passionate about improving the quality of life for my patients by preserving and restoring their vision, but am also very interested in treating people on a larger scale. One way of doing so is by evaluating treatment outcomes across populations, and then identifying factors that contribute to excellent outcomes. I also specialize in the medical and surgical management of complex conditions including retinal detachment, epiretinal membrane, floaters, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.Websites

Skills
- Repair of retinal detachment
- A retinal detachment is when the retina is separated from its proper position, and can be potentially blinding if not treated urgently.
- Treatment of macular edema
- Macular edema is swelling of the retina and can occur due to diabetes, retinal vein occlusion, previous eye surgery, amongst other reasons. It is visually-threatening, but often can be treated.
- Management of macular degeneration
- Macular degeneration occurs commonly in patients over the age of 50, and is a leading cause of vision loss in the world. Fortunately, there has been significant progress in treatment options.
- Management of diabetic retinopathy
- Diabetic retinopathy can occur in anybody who has diabetes (high blood sugar). In its earliest form, the patient may not know that he/she has it. Therefore, it is critical that patients are evaluated annually to screen for this disease. When discovered early, blindness is largely preventable.
