Professional Statement
My research interests include understanding the impact that heart defects or disease have in the neurodevelopmental outcomes of children. The Heart Center at Texas Children’s Hospital has a Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Outcomes Program that follows the development of children born with congenital heart disease and have undergone cardiac surgery. As part of this program I maintain an IRB approved Cardiology Neurodevelopmental Outcomes Clinic Database with the purpose of answering research questions aimed at reducing the incidence or impact of impaired outcome after cardiac surgery. Another project that I am involved with includes the coordination of research studies with other Pediatric Centers in the US and Canada that are part of the Pediatric Heart Network.Selected Publications
