Professional Statement
My career focuses on educating the next generation of clinicians and scientists in the fields of vaccinology and infectious diseases and conducting team science through vaccine clinical trials and epidemiologic research. As an investigator at the Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) Infectious Diseases Clinical Research Consortium (IDCRC) Vaccine Research Center and Vaccine Treatment and Evaluation Unit (VTEU), I conduct team science. My key contributions have primarily been through leading NIAID or CDC-funded phase 1-4 vaccine clinical trials against respiratory viral pathogens.
I wholeheartedly teach medical students, residents, and infectious disease fellows infectious at BCM. I am the microbiology thread director for the BCM medical student curriculum and am the associate course director for the first-year medical student Integrated Systems course.
I strive to provide compassionate patient-centered care for people living with HIV and other infections.
