About the Lab

Content

Established in 2007 at Baylor College of Medicine, the Pangas Lab is to dedicated to decreasing the health burden of infertility and menopause through basic science and clinically-oriented research.

Our main research focus is in female reproductive biology and reproductive health. We primarily use novel genetic models to uncover genes necessary for female fertility and ovarian function. This includes developing models derived from ES cell targeting, CRISPR/Cas9 genetic engineering, and Cre-loxP recombination. Our research has uncovered a host of novel genes and pathways that control ovarian and uterine function, which when disrupted cause diseases such as primary ovarian insufficiency, infertility, and ovarian cancer.

Additional, we utilize patient samples typically from women with reproductive disorders such as premature ovarian failure and those undergoing assisted reproductive techniques to study key pathways. These samples are used for “omic profiling”, mutation analysis, and generation of PDX models.
