Didactic Curriculum for Adolescent Medicine Fellowship


The three-year didactic curriculum supports the fellows’ clinical practice and covers ABP content. Fellows participate in a teaching curriculum during the duration of their fellowship. Content includes, but is not limited to, establishing goals and objectives, flipped classroom, and effective presentations. Lectures are given by fellows, section faculty, BCM subspecialists and experts from the greater Houston area.

The didactic curriculum includes:

  • Core adolescent medicine content as outlined by ABP
  • Pediatric subspecialty lectures
  • Adolescent psychology and psychiatry
  • Teaching skills
  • Sports Medicine with hands-on skills training
  • Weekly multidisciplinary case conferences (inpatient and outpatient)
  • Journal clubs

The didactic curriculum is augmented by attendance to BCM Chronic Illness and Disability Transition Conference and Annual attendance at a national meeting,
