The following documents are required from the Academic Unit for an initial appointment or promotion:

1. The letter requesting a secondary appointment or promotion in a secondary Academic Unit should be initiated by the secondary Academic Unit; it must, however, bear the countersignature of the head of the primary Academic Unit. The Letter of Request should state the role to be played by the faculty member as a result of this joint appointment.

2. Request for Faculty Appointment/Promotion/Other (RFAP) form prepared by the secondary Academic Unit

3. Current curriculum vitae of the candidate. See CV Outline - Promotion.

Note: Current curriculum vitae of the candidate is not required if the person has been appointed to, or promoted in, the primary Academic Unit within two years of the secondary request.
