Collaboration and multidisciplinary partnerships are hallmarks of contemporary science. Baylor College of Medicine’s location in the heart of the Texas Medical Center provides opportunity for interaction and cross-fertilization of ideas with colleagues at some of the most highly regarded hospitals and research centers in the world. The concentration of research in every aspect of biomedical sciences in the TMC and in Houston is among the highest to be found anywhere.

Baylor is a member of The Gulf Coast Consortia for Quantitative Biomedical Sciences (GCC), a collaborative alliance for cross-institutional, interdisciplinary bioscience training and research. The other members of the GCC are Rice University, The University of Houston, The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The GCC was a finalist for the 2011 Collaboration Prize. Along with seven other finalists the GCC was honored for creating an extraordinarily impactful and innovative collaboration.

Neighboring Rice University, the University of Houston and The University of Texas Health Science Center provides extensive opportunity for interaction and collaborations with researchers from the full spectrum of physical and social sciences.

Rice University and Baylor College of Medicine signed an interinstitutional agreement to facilitate research and teaching collaborations between the two private schools in 2015.
