The Smart Pod, designed by Xploration Health and Baylor College of Medicine, is a rapidly deployable, expandable medical facility that can be transported anywhere around the world to address all kinds of healthcare challenges.
For The Gambia, two Smart Pods were outfitted as an operating room and a patient recovery unit for maternal health. A separate vestibule unit connects the Smart Pods and serves as a pre-operative preparation space.
