Mixed incontinence (sometimes called total incontinence) has elements of both stress incontinence and urge incontinence (overactive bladder).
Symptoms
The patient may have different degrees of wetness from occasionally wet to constantly wet, regardless of efforts to hold urine.
Diagnosis
A nonfunctional urethra usually is found with simple testing.
Treatment
Treatment will depend upon the evaluation. Any number of treatments or combinations of treatments, including those used for stress incontinence and overactive bladder, may be recommended.
