Professional Statement
I specialize in treating children with medical complexity and adolescents and young adults with chronic diseases. My areas of interest within these populations are pain and symptom management, advance care planning, and complex medical decision making.I believe that every patient is unique and their medical assessment and treatment must be an individualized process. Thus, I practice within the context of an interdisciplinary team so that my patients' and families' psychosocial and spiritual needs are addressed. I try to "think outside the box" and consider cultural aspects in patient care and often consider integrative medicine, modalities such as aromatherapy, acupressure and music therapy in my practice.
Outside of my clinical practice, I am actively engaged in medical education, research and quality improvement in pediatric palliative care, and healthcare advocacy.
