What is your favorite memory from medical school or residency?
I was the best man in my college roommate’s wedding. We met the first day of undergrad and have been best friends since.

Why did you choose critical care?
Critical care is always on the cutting edge of medicine. I like the complexity, intensity, and fast pace. The ICU is where all the action happens.

What drew you to BCM?
Cardiac ICU training and critical care ultrasound.

What’s your favorite thing and/or spot in Houston?
I’ve been going to Derive CrossFit in the Museum District- wonderful coaches and great programming.

What is one new thing you started in fellowship that you hadn’t done before?
I live on my own! I bought my own furniture, TV, and a new bed. For the first time I have the opportunity to create my own home.

What is your favorite memory from medical school or residency?
Hanging out with my co-residents and meeting my fiancé during my last year of my residency.

Why did you choose cardiovascular anesthesia?
As an anesthesiologist who always had a strong interested in critical care, I enjoyed my cardiovascular anesthesia rotation during residency. I realized that I want to provide a continuity of care for the cardiac patients both in the operating room and in the cardiothoracic ICU. I also enjoyed learning and taking care of patients with mechanical circulatory support devices.

What drew you to BCM?
Due to my strong interest in mechanical circulatory support devices, I wanted to further train at a place where they have a strong emphasis on cardiovascular ICU and operating room experience.

What’s your favorite thing and/or spot in Houston?
Trying various vegan restaurants in Houston. So many options!

What is one new thing you started in fellowship that you hadn’t done before?
Biking to work.
