About Our Curriculum
The Nephrology Fellowship Training Program is one of the most innovative programs in the country. We aim to tailor the educational experience to each individual trainee. We accomplish this through early mentorship, involvement in research projects or scholarly pathways, and exposure to the breadth of experiences in the world-renowned Texas Medical Center.
Our curriculum and educational conferences ensure the opportunity for fellows to achieve the cognitive knowledge, procedural experience, interpersonal skills, professional attitudes, humanistic qualities and practical experience required of a sub-specialist. Over a 10-year period, nearly 50 percent of our graduates choose private practice, 40 percent select academics, and 10 percent pursue additional fellowships (e.g. transplant, interventional).

The abridged version of our Nephrology Fellow Handbook provides a comprehensive view about our training program, including inpatient or outpatient rotations and educational enrichment. Each year, fellows edit our internal Cool Beans Fellowship Survival Guide survival guide that fits neatly within the white-coat pocket. It can be used as a quick reference on rounds - during and after fellowship training!
