Pediatric Orthopedics Fellowship


About the Program


The ACGME-accredited and POSNA-accredited Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery fellowship program at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital includes broad-based exposure to all aspects of pediatric orthopedics.

The one-year fellowship includes training in:

  • Congenital and developmental abnormalities of the spine, upper, and lower extremities
  • Genetic and metabolic disorders, including osteogenesis imperfecta
  • Brachial plexus and upper extremity congenital and acquired abnormalities
  • Limb-length discrepancy and deformity
  • Limb deficiencies and prosthetic management
  • Non-operative and operative treatment of clubfoot
  • Neuromuscular diseases and disorders, including cerebral palsy and myelodysplasia
  • State-of-the-art motion analysis lab with multidisciplinary motion analysis team members from pediatric orthopaedics, pediatric physical medicine and rehabilitation, physical therapy, and bioenergetics.
  • Musculoskeletal infections
  • Scoliosis and spine deformity
  • Hip preservation
  • Pediatric orthopedic trauma and fractures

Additional emphasis is placed on all aspects of pediatric orthopedic trauma.

During this one-year fellowship, three fellows will spend time rotating through Texas Children’s Hospital. The faculty consists of over 30 full-time pediatric orthopedists involved in all areas of care.  

We offer Grand Rounds, journal club, preoperative conferences and didactic lectures. Completion of at least one clinical research project leading to manuscript publication in a peer-reviewed orthopedics journal is required. Two projects are strongly encouraged.

Training Locations


The 12-month training program will occur at the various Texas Children’s Hospital locations. The majority of time will be spent the the main Texas Medical Center campus and the surrounding clinical care offices.  Specialty rotations will occur at the West campus and Woodlands campus.
