Global Training Locations
Our residents have the opportunity to train at the following Texas Children’s Global Health Network sites:
- Malawi
- Uganda
- Botswana
- Eswatini
- Colombia
- Peru*
- Guatemala*
*We are actively developing partnerships with hospitals in Peru and Guatemala, with the goal of expanding our training opportunities to these countries in the near future.
Residents have the opportunity to gain exposure to varied clinical environments including outpatient clinics, emergency department, delivery room and neonatal units, inpatient units, and community outreach sites. There are opportunities to explore general pediatrics, HIV and tuberculosis care and treatment, neonatal health, pediatric hematology/oncology, malnutrition units, and emergency care.

3+1 = Your Pathway to Global Child Health Leadership
Add an extra year of global health clinical training to your pediatric residency and gain unparalleled experience at a global health site in Africa or Latin America. This unique opportunity through our integrated program equips you with the skills and perspectives needed to lead in the field of global child health, preparing you to make a lasting impact on healthcare systems worldwide.
Your global health time can be done at any point after 18 months during the four-year training program. It can be done in one 12-month block or split into two 6-month blocks.
