Welcome to the Baylor College of Medicine Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Program! Located in the heart of Houston, we have one of the oldest programs in the country and opportunities well-suited to prepare you for a career in physiatry, wherever your path may lead.

Our residents are fortunate to rotate at a variety of excellent inpatient and outpatient rotation sites, providing care to patients of diverse medical, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. TIRR and Texas Children’s are annually among the top national rehabilitation and children’s hospitals, respectively. The Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center is among the largest VA hospitals in the country. Faculty members are commonly experts in their respective subspecialties and serve as terrific teachers both on-site and in lecture. The clinical experiences offered are designed to equip trainees with a comprehensive physiatric skillset that they will carry into different subspecialties and practice settings, enduring for the lifetime of their careers.

Home to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, multiple professional sports teams, and excellent food, Houston is also one of the most diverse cities in the US, with significant international influence as a medical hub for the country and beyond. The Texas Medical Center offers clinical and extracurricular experiences not available elsewhere, opening doors to meaningful mentorship and scholarship. And a low cost of living affords the resident access to a more comfortable lifestyle while in training.

Regardless of where you intend to go, our program has the resources you’ll need with a record of strong fellowship matches and job placements. Graduates consistently secure competitive positions around the country in different subspecialties, reflecting the program’s high level of training and mentorship. This success is a testament to the efforts of our trainees, the dedication of our faculty and the exceptional quality of education provided.

In searching for future residents, we seek individuals who embody the values of intellectual curiosity, leadership, and dedication to our field. We value those who foster a collaborative atmosphere and may contribute to the supportive community that defines our program.

We hope that you’re excited as you take your next step in pursuit of academic excellence, cultural enrichment and professional growth. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our program.
