Medical students at Baylor College of Medicine – Temple soon will be able to obtain an M.B.A. through the Baylor University Hankamer School of Business. Degree requirements are completed over five years.

Students must complete three years of medical school before entering the full-time program for an M.B.A. with healthcare specialization in their fourth year. The program is tailored to allow students to complete two years of business school within one year, returning to BCM in their fifth year of training to complete medical school requirements.

Earning an M.B.A. with healthcare specialization allows students to gain an in-depth understanding of the business of healthcare before starting their clinical career. Students also will develop management skills necessary to pursue a career in clinical administration.

“MD/MBA graduates will have a unique combination of medical expertise and business acumen, allowing them to navigate the complexities of the healthcare industry, make informed strategic decisions and manage healthcare delivery effectively,” said Dr. Murali Jatla, director of the M.D./M.B.A. program and professor of pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine – Temple.

Baylor College of Medicine – Temple welcomed its first class of medical students in 2023. Those students, now in their second year of training, will be eligible to apply to the M.D./M.B.A. program next year. The campus is affiliated with Baylor Scott & White Health, the largest not-for-profit health system in the state of Texas, and students are trained in the state-of-the-art facilities at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Temple.
