Dr. Sameer Sheth, professor and vice chair of research in the Department of Neurosurgery, McNair Scholar, and Cullen Foundation Endowed Chair at Baylor College of Medicine, and director of the Cain Laboratories at the Duncan Neurological Research Insitute at Texas Children’s Hospital, has been awarded a $200,000 grant by the Jasper L. and Jack Denton Wilson Foundation.

The grant will support Dr. Sheth and his team as they continue critical pediatric epilepsy research. The goal of this effort is to expand the research infrastructure within the Texas Children’s Hospital Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. The planned improvements will enable detailed investigation of the neural basis not only of seizures themselves, but also of the cognitive, learning, and mental health consequences of childhood epilepsy.

The Jasper L. and Jack Denton Wilson Foundation supports educational, health, and community initiatives providing grants and funding to various projects, scholarships, and programs that align with its mission of improving quality of life and promoting well-being in communities.
