Professional Statement
Allison Chen, MD, MPH is a graduate of Brown University's combined BA/MD program. She then completed her ophthalmology residency at UC San Diego - Shiley Eye Institute during which she also trained at the SD Navy Refractive Surgery Center and performed LASIK/PRK on Navy SEALS and pilots. She continued advanced training through a cornea, anterior segment and refractive fellowship at Baylor. After fellowship, she led Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles' cornea division and led Southern California's primary keratoconus treatment and crosslinking program prior to returning to Baylor's ophthalmology team. An author of over 100 peer reviewed publications, book chapters, and national and international presentations, Dr. Chen strives to stay on the cutting edge and forefront of advancing cataract and refractive surgery outcomes.In her free time, she enjoys attending performing arts, exploring wildlife, growing tropical houseplants, and savoring dark chocolates with her family.
