Professional Statement
Dr. Haskins attended medical school at the Medical College of Georgia, where she was inducted into the national medical honor society Alpha Omega Alpha. She competed residency at the University of Alabama Medical Center and became a certified diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery upon graduation. She then matriculated into fellowship training for head and neck oncology and microvascular reconstructive surgery through the American Head & Neck Society at the Medical University of South Carolina. She specializes in surgical management of pathologies involving the head and neck skin, mouth, pharynx, larynx, saliva glands, thyroid, and parathyroid glands. She is also trained in plastic reconstruction of both small and large head and neck cancer ablative defects, utilizing tissue from essentially the entire body to repair such wounds. Finally she performs complex traumatic facial reconstruction. She has been inducted into the Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons. She is a dedicated academician with a commitment to providing quality education and effective mentorship for medical students, graduate students, resident trainees, and head and neck fellows. She regularly participates in didactic lectures and educational events within and outside of the institution. She serves as Gross Anatomy Faculty for Baylor College of Medicine’s School of Medicine. She is a member of the medical school’s Admissions Committee and participates in various subcommittees, supporting the recruitment of a diverse, accomplished, and motivated pool of students each year. She serves as the Otolaryngology Specialty Specific Mentor for medical students pursuing a formal career in Otolaryngology. She serves her specialty nationally on the Task Force for New Materials for the American Board of Otolaryngology, creating content for board certifying examinations in otolaryngology. Finally, she is a member of the national group Society of University Otolaryngologists, focusing on conscious recruitment efforts of medical students into the field and the pursuit of supportive and effective residency training environments.Memberships
