Professional Statement
My research at Hui Zheng Lab focuses on understanding the cellular mechanisms underlying Alzheimer's disease (AD) using transgenic human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived brain cells associated with the disease. Specifically, we have differentiated iPSCs with R406W and P301S mutations in the microtubule-associated protein tau into cortical neurons and astrocytes to study the downstream targets of transcription factor EB (TFEB). TFEB is a master regulator of lysosomal biogenesis and autophagy pathways. My goal is to investigate how TFEB activity manages APP and tau aggregation in iPSC-derived neurons and how it alters their characteristics.Log In to edit your profile
