Projects
- TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT FOR NONINVASIVE PRENATAL GENETIC DIAGNOSIS USING MATERNAL PERIPHERAL BLOOD
- The goal of this study is to develop and validate a new risk-free prenatal diagnosis tool using only the maternal peripheral blood for the detection of clinically relevant genomic imbalance in the developing fetus.
- CHARACTERIZATION OF THE ROLE OF MATERNAL EFFECT GENE NLRP2 IN REPRODUCTION
- Maternal mutations in human NLRP7 cause recurrent hydatidiform molar (RHM) pregnancies with imprinting defects. Maternal mutations in a highly homologous gene NLRP2, cause multi-locus imprinting disorder (MLID) in offspring. Both disorders are associated with abnormal DNA methylation of maternally imprinted genes. Using Nlrp2 knock-out mouse and human embryonic stem cells models to study the mechanisms that cause the observed offsprings and placental abnormalities.
