Professional Statement

After growing up in Connecticut, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Richmond in 2020. During my time there, I served as a tutor and teaching assistant and completed my honors thesis research project studying organic chemistry syntheses of bioactive pyrazole compounds.

After graduation, I decided to pursue genetics research, joining a circadian rhythm genetics lab at Columbia University where I worked with Drosophila melanogaster. My various projects examined the physiological effects of different genetic mutants in response to environmental or dietary conditions such as infection or intermittent time restricted feeding. In 2022, I joined Columbia University’s Comprehensive Cancer Center as a clinical research coordinator working on lymphoma and neuro-oncology clinical trials and assisting with patient visits.

I joined the Baylor College of Medicine Genetic Counseling Program in 2023 and currently serve as the second year class president. I have strong interests in rare disease and variant interpretation which I am exploring in my thesis project which aims to discover new genes related to tetralogy of fallot. Outside of my time in the program, I enjoy running and am training for my first marathon in the fall of 2024.
