Professional Statement
Dr. Konstantinos (Kostas) Makris graduated magna cum laude from the University of Athens Medical School in Greece. He received his General Surgery training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, NE and he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery. He pursued fellowship training in Advanced Laparoscopy and Surgical Endoscopy at Legacy Health in Portland, OR, mentored by Dr. Lee Swanstrom, as well as further training in Endocrine Surgery at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, mentored by Dr. Martha Zeiger. He has received awards and acknowledgements by the American College of Surgeons for his distinction in the contest of surgical knowledge and in the competition of surgical trainee essay, a traveling fellowship award by the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, educational and clinical awards by Baylor College of Medicine. He joined Baylor College of Medicine and the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in November of 2013, where he proudly serves the veterans as a staff surgeon. His clinical practice includes all aspects of General Surgery with emphasis on Minimally Invasive Surgery, benign foregut diseases and endocrine surgery. He is the author of numerous articles, scientific abstracts and book chapters in the fields of his clinical and research interests.Websites
