Matias Bruzoni, MD, FACS is passionate about delivering outstanding care to his patients and their families. He sets high expectations for quality and outcomes by building clinical programs of excellence.Dr. Bruzoni spent 14 years at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford where he held several academic leadership roles including Program Director of the Pediatric Surgery Fellowship, Surgical Director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center and Surgical Director of the Bariatric Program. He performed a wide variety of surgical procedures, ranging from outpatient cases to highly complex multidisciplinary operations. His research interests are primarily focused on minimally invasive surgery, weight loss surgery, and health disparities.
In 2023, he was recruited to lead the Division of Pediatric Surgery at the Texas Children’s Hospital North Austin campus, where he oversees the development of state-of-the-art clinical programs such as minimally invasive thoracic and abdominal surgery, surgical oncology, trauma and surgical critical care, weight loss surgery, chest wall deformities, gastrointestinal disorders and newborn surgery.
After obtaining his medical degree at the University of Buenos Aires and completing his General Surgery residency at the British Hospital of Buenos Aires, Dr. Bruzoni continued his training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha as a Transplant fellow and also completed a General Surgery residency in the same program. Subsequently, he was the first fellow to graduate from the Pediatric Surgery Fellowship Program at Stanford in 2011. He is a member of several academic societies, as well as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and is dual certified by the American Board of Surgery in General and Pediatric Surgery.
Dr. Bruzoni is committed to providing outstanding care to his patients and together with his wife and three children, is extremely excited to be part of the Austin community.
