Professional Statement
I am a 6th year graduate student in the Genetics & Genomics program, studying in the laboratory of Dr. Juan Botas. My research combines my passion for learning and understanding basic biological pathways with the translational implementation of neurodegenerative research and intervention.
My thesis work centers around investigating genetic components of the actin cytoskeleton remodeling pathway and its implication in the onset and progression of Alzheimer’s Disease. Utilizing Drosophila, mice, and human neural stem cells, we combine high-throughput screening technologies to identify novel genetic targets to reverse neurodegenerative phenotypes.
