Professional Statement
After leaving my home in Denver, CO, I graduated from Montana State University with a B.S. in Cell Biology and Neuroscience and minors in Genetics and Global Health. As an undergraduate, I worked as a barista in the library coffee shop, a bouncer at a trampoline park, and a student teaching assistant. In addition, I volunteered as an adaptive ski lesson instructor, a student ambassador for the United Multiple Sulfatase Deficiency Foundation, a crisis line specialist, and a planning committee member for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. These experiences provided a glimpse into the human experience and demonstrated the importance of empowering others.Following graduation, I was fortunate to begin a position as a Genetic Counseling Assistant for GeneMatters (now Genome Medical). Here I supported genetic counselors in various specialties to improve patient care and access to genetic counseling via telehealth. Now as a genetic counseling student at BCM, I am looking forward to exploring how I can continue to improve access to care and support patients through their journey. In my free time, I enjoy all things outdoors, painting, yoga, board games, and exploring Houston and all the big city has to offer.
