Professional Statement
My emphasis is medical education and curriculum development for a variety of settings and different learners. As a member of the Section of Academic General Pediatrics (AGP), my primary responsibility is to model and teach general pediatric skills. Paramount to my goals as a teacher is to provide competent and compassionate patient care and to demonstrate this to learners. The majority of my clinical teaching time is spent with pediatric residents and students as we work together to provide ongoing care for patients at the Texas Children's Hospital Primary Care Practice. I believe in advocating for the needs of patients and I practice quality improvement to better existing processes. My research interests include: medical education; quality improvement; outcomes in children from high-risk, disadvantaged, or culturally diverse backgrounds; and the comparison of clinical practices or new therapeutic modalities in the management of common pediatric problems.Websites
