  • Favorite Part of Living in Houston: It has to be the several options for fun activities to do. I feel like Houston has something for everyone!
  • Favorite Part of EM Residency: My favorite part of EM residency so far has to be taking care of my patients. It has been so nice to be able to return to my hometown and be of service to the Houston community in this way. 
  • Interesting Previous Career: I was an Emergency Department Medical Scribe Trainer before entering medical school. Being apart of so many clinical encounters allowed me to really fall in love with EM. I also was able to find that I loved the team dynamic that EM provides.

  • Favorite Part of Living in Houston: I actually live in League City, which is south of Houston. I love being in the suburbs! 
  • Favorite Part of EM Residency: It's so exciting to finally be doing what I've dreamt of doing for so long! I love learning something (or a lot of somethings) new every shift, and the people I get to work with, from the attendings to the nurses to my co-residents, are incredible. Ben Taub is a special place! And the food in Houston is the cherry on top.
  • Interesting Previous Career: I was a waitress at an Italian restaurant!

  • Favorite Part of EM Residency: Getting to train in THE best specialty to help underserved patients from all walks of life. I’m also very lucky I get to work with and learn from such a diverse, passionate, and intelligent family here at BCM. I’ve felt so welcomed by everyone right from the jump and know I’ll be supported and prepared for success here. Honestly wouldn’t want to be anywhere else!

  • Favorite Houston Restaurant: Hard to choose just one! Favorites so far: Candente, Aga's, Abu Omar, and Common Bond. 
  • Favorite Part of Living in Houston: The expansive food scene, proximity to family, warm weather all year round, and diversity!
  • Favorite Part of EM Residency: I love my co-residents! They are hilarious, bold, and so supportive! Also, the diversity of the EM residents, attendings, and patient population is unparalleled. It’s incredible to be part of a program that values recruiting residents that mirror the patient population being served.
  • Interesting Previous Career: During college, I majored in Radio/TV/Film because I aspire to blend my passion for medicine and film by creating videos about patient health. I was able to further develop my skills by working at a documentary production company. I’m excited to build a dual career as both a physician and filmmaker!

  • Favorite Part of EM Residency: I love that the upper level residents and attendings are very patient with us. It's the perfect learning environment. I'm not too stressed coming on to a shift. I know I'm coming to learn.

  • Favorite Houston Restaurant: Such a tough call! Probably Mala Sichuan or Loro! So many spots on my list that I haven't tried yet, though. 
  • Favorite Part of Living in Houston: The sunsets are pretty sweet. But as a woman who loves grocery stores, I'm happy to be so close to an HEB at all times. Central Market is an epicurean dreamscape. Can't wait to hit up H mart and so many others.
  • Favorite Part of EM Residency: I feel like I already have so many favorite parts. The massive variety of patient presentations and diagnoses seen at Ben Taub compares to none. I feel incredibly supported by my faculty and upper level residents to succeed in learning how to take the best care of my patients. Far from least is the bond I have been able to forge with my co-interns. There was instant camaraderie (and comedy) amongst the 16 of us, and I can't wait to make memories working alongside these wonderful and inspiring new doctors.
  • Interesting Previous Career: I baked and sold empanadas at a stall in a fancy food hall in New Orleans the summer before I started medical school.

  • Favorite Part of Living in Houston: Hermann Park, The Post, the food the food the food!!! The city is so diverse and there's so much to explore. I'm loving living in the med center because I can walk or bike home from work and I've caught some beautiful sunsets.
  • Favorite Part of EM Residency: My co-residents of course!! The faculty and the Ben Taub staff are so awesome too. I didn't know anyone in Houston before coming here and it's been a really warm, welcoming environment to learn in. The culture is centered on what's best for the patient and it really shows. 
  • Interesting Previous Career: I've had a lot of odd jobs while in school - at a Culver's, as a baker, janitor, and entomology undergrad researcher.
