The educational grants are funded by the Academy of Distinguished Educators for the purpose of furthering the educational mission of Baylor College of Medicine and budgets are evaluated based on this guiding principle. The grants may be used to support new or ongoing education initiatives, and may be used to support the initial stages of innovative educational research or educational experiences.
Fundable budget items include:
- Equipment or supplies for (a) enhancing direct instruction, (b) preparation of instructional materials or (c) development of new educational activities.
- Personnel (staff or consultants), who will enrich or otherwise contribute to a) direct instruction, (b) preparation of instructional materials or (c) development of new educational activities.
- Tuition, fees for coursework or other education-related professional development expenses, provided that appropriate justification is included in the application.
- Travel for professional development of Academy Member in education or to present results of educational activities or educational research at a professional meeting.
Indirect costs or overhead expenses may not be requested. Budget items that are part of ongoing department expenditures should not be requested.
