What is your favorite memory from residency?
I was midway through a tough rotation and I guess my weariness was a bit visible to my team because after rounds my chief sent me photo of his dog with the caption “if you’re having a bad day, you can look at this.” I was no longer having a bad day.
Why did you choose urology?
I chose urology because of a collection of amazing mentors. I love the patient population, the variety of cases and the ability to solve really serious problems while never taking ourselves too seriously.
What drew you to the BCM Scott Department of Urology?
I wanted a program with a large volume and high level of autonomy. But, I also wanted to be at a place where teams laugh daily and residents enjoy hanging out with each other outside the hospital. I was a Baylor medical student, so I knew Baylor offered those things.
What’s your favorite thing and/or spot in Houston?
It’s no secret that I love the rodeo. As a northerner who somehow wandered down to Texas, I was a bit trepidatious about attending a rodeo my first time. However, the Houston rodeo delivers. COVID19 may have put a kibosh on my plans to drag the whole intern class there, but we’ll rally again next year.
What is one new thing you started in residency that you hadn’t done before?
I’ve taken up yoga with my fiancé. We’re both horrible, but we try hard.
