IQuESt/ HSR Faculty and Staff 2024
Section Highlights
- IQuESt is organized into four dynamic research programs—Implementation, Innovation & Evaluation; Behavioral Health; Health Policy, Quality & Informatics; and Clinical Effectiveness & Population Health—each supported by cores in Administration, Education, and Methodology to drive impactful, multidisciplinary research.
- In FY2024, faculty secured over $10.5M in new grant funding, including major awards from AHRQ, NIH, VA, DoD, and ADA. Notable PIs include Drs. Barbara Trautner, Larissa Grigoryan, Andrea Bradford, Kathryn Kanzler, and Laura Petersen, whose COIN renewal totals $4.45M.
- National honors reflect the section’s thought leadership: Dr. Hardeep Singh received the Mark L. Graber Diagnostic Quality Award and joined WHO and NQF steering committees; Dr. Bhavika Kaul was selected as a National Academy of Medicine Scholar in Diagnostic Excellence.
- Dr. Darius Dawson earned national recognition as a 2024 Emerging Leader by the Anxiety & Depression Association of America for his innovative work in mental health care delivery, while Dr. Andrew Zimolzak received Best Oral Abstract at the Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine.
- IQuESt’s HSR Grand Rounds foster scholarly exchange across four seminar types: Research in Progress, Job Talks, Visiting Professors, and Workshops. Development activities include trainings like “Insights Discovery,” which builds self-awareness and leadership effectiveness in early-career faculty.
- Leadership transitions signal continued growth: Dr. Anita Chary was named Associate Director of the BCM Medical Scientist Training Program, Dr. Kyler Godwin now leads BCM’s Institute for Continuing Professional Development in QI/Patient Safety, and Dr. Jessica Davila is the new Deputy Director of BCM’s Institute for Clinical and Translational Research.
IQuESt is a collaborative place to work. Whenever I think about why I have stayed at IQuESt for over 15 years, the answer always boils down to me getting to do interesting, meaningful science with people I love to work with.
