Section of Cardiology Chief's Message


The Section of Cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine is committed to provide the best comprehensive cardiovascular care to our patients. Our section embraces all aspects of the tripartite mission of patient care, research, and education to:

  • bring cutting-edge discoveries from the bench to the bedside 
  • train the next generation of leaders in cardiology

We strive for excellence by promoting an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion across our section and by fostering a culture of collaboration that recognizes the importance of patient-centered care.

Our Cardiology Section has a legacy of national and international recognition as a leader in research, education and clinical care in areas ranging from the prevention of heart disease to treatment of an array of cardiovascular diseases such as coronary artery disease, valvular disorders, cardiomyopathies and advanced heart failure and cardiac transplant. 

Our outstanding faculty practice in world-renowned institutions such as Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center, Texas Heart Institute, Texas Children’s Hospital, Ben Taub Hospital and Michael E DeBakey VA Medical Center along with affiliated institutions in the greater Houston community. Members of our faculty are dedicated to innovative and integrative patient care in all patient care settings, which include both in and outpatients at our private and public hospitals. Our hospitals are the premier destination for the treatment of all different complexities of cardiovascular disease. Our faculty have been recognized for their pioneering efforts in advancement of cardiovascular care.

We are committed to train competent and highly skilled cardiologists from diverse backgrounds who practice equitable, compassionate, and patient-centered care. We strive to foster the scientific aspirations of trainees through a mentored research training plan. We have strong research programs in all areas of cardiovascular disease including partnerships with basic and clinical researchers throughout the Texas Medical Center, the United States and the world to develop new approaches for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cardiovascular disease.
