About the Program

The Transplant Hepatology Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine is ACGME-accredited to provide one-year intensive clinical training that meets ABIM requirements for Board Eligibility for certification in Transplant Hepatology.

Our program trains aspiring transplant hepatologists in a multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and treatment of all hepatobiliary diseases, as well as, the evaluation, perioperative, waitlist and postoperative management of liver transplant patients.

Our program aims to graduate the next generation of academicians and clinicians in the discipline of hepatology and liver transplantation to improve the health and well-being of our community and the underserved with chronic liver diseases.

Our mission is to train academic hepatologists.

  • Our dedicated hepatology faculty includes seven members with triple ABIM certification in internal medicine, gastroenterology and transplant hepatology.
  • Over 100 liver transplants performed every year between Baylor St. Luke’s and affiliates, Michael E. DeBakey Houston VA, and Texas Children's Hospital with waitlist and post-transplant outcomes far exceeding national average survival.
