Neurotology Fellowship Curriculum

The neurotology fellow spends 75 percent of the time at Houston Methodist Hospital, which is one of the largest private, nonprofit institutions in the United States. Houston Methodist is one of the most surgically intensive hospitals in the country. It has attracted international scientific and public attention for research activities and clinical care in the disciplines of cardiovascular surgery, general surgery, otolaryngology-head and neck surgery, immunology, internal medicine, neurosurgery, neurology and orthopedics.

Houston Methodist Hospital is the home of the world's first multidisciplinary center devoted to neurosensory disorders. Operated in conjunction with Baylor College of Medicine, the Neurosensory Center is composed of The Institute for Head and Neck Surgery, which houses The Bobby R. Alford Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.

Twenty-five percent of the Neurotology fellow’s time is at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, which is one of the world's most respected centers devoted exclusively to cancer patient care, research, education, and prevention. MD Anderson is one of the nation's original three Comprehensive Cancer Centers designated by the National Cancer Act of 1971 and is one of 35 such centers today.

Depending on the specific interests of the fellow, dedicated time is available to pursue both clinical and basic science/translational research opportunities through Baylor College of Medicine, MD Anderson Cancer Center and collaborating institutions around the Texas Medical Center such as Rice University, the University of Houston and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Public Health.
