The Adolescent Medicine fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine accepts graduating pediatric or medicine/pediatric residents in good standing. The duration of fellowship for pediatric residency graduates is three years and two years for medicine-pediatric resident graduates in order to be eligible for board certification in Adolescent Medicine. Given the structure of our curriculum, we encourage three years to fully understand the scope and practice of Adolescent medicine and to complete all scholarly projects.

Our ideal candidate is a driven, self-starting learner with interest in improving their clinical skills in a variety of adolescent health topics, is passionate about patient care, teaching, advocacy, and research. In addition, we interested in an organized physician who is a team player comfortable with both leading and pitching in to see that our multidisciplinary team functions well and has good communication skills.

Prior program graduates are active as members and leadership of local, state and national organizations such as:

  • International Association of Adolescent Health
  • Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine
  • North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology
  • Texas Pediatric Society

Graduates are currently practicing in a variety of settings:

  • Private practice
  • Community Health
  • Positions at academic institutions such as UT Southwestern/ Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, Baylor College of Medicine/ Texas Children's Hospital, University of Southern California, Nationwide Children’s Hospital (The Ohio State University), University of Oklahoma, including roles as division chiefs, medical directors and fellowship directors.
