Admissions Information
Our three-year fellowship program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and provides comprehensive clinical and research experience in Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes. With up to four fellows per year, our program is one of the largest pediatric endocrinology fellowships in the United States.
Admission requirements include completion of an ACGME-accredited U.S. Pediatric Residency Program prior to matriculation at Baylor College of Medicine for the Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship. Baylor College of Medicine accepts trainees who are U.S. citizens, permanent residents or holders of J-1Visas.
Applications are accepted through ERAS. We participate in the Fall Subspecialty Match held in December of the year prior to entry into our program in July.
Interviews take place between August and November.
Applicant Interview Schedule
- The interview day will start at 9 a.m. CST and end at 3 p.m. CST
- 4 interview slots for each interview date
- 9 - 10 a.m.: Meet as a group with Division Chief, Program Director and a Faculty Member
- 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.: Individual faculty-applicant interviews
- 12 – 1 p.m.: Virtual lunch and Q&A with the current fellows
- 1 – 3 p.m.: Individual faculty-applicant interviews
Stipends and Benefits
- External funding is not required for any part of the fellowship. All of our fellowship positions are fully funded through the Baylor College of Medicine Department of Pediatrics. For detailed information, please visit: Baylor College of Medicine benefits and Stipends
- Welcome care package that includes textbooks and clinical practice tools
- Meeting expenses: We support fellows attending one meeting per year, and abstract submission is strongly encouraged. One additional meeting may be attended if a travel grant is awarded and a second abstract is to be presented
- Organizational Membership: One covered membership fee to a scientific organization related to the practice of endocrinology
- Educational Resources: Access to the American Academy of Pediatrics Care Link through the BCM Department of Pediatrics
Fellowship Wellness
- Quarterly events outside of the hospital planned and funded by the fellowship education team.
- Advance practice providers supporting the inpatient teams to alleviate service burden.
- Full complement of ancillary staff including diabetes educators, nutritionists, social workers and clinic navigators to support the clinical operations.
- After hour diabetes educator support for parent calls during peak call hours and during rounding time on the weekends.
- Quick service meals are provided 24/7 with convenient grab and go option.
- Safe-Ride program when on-call.
- Fellows have access to BCM BEWELL (BCM’s institutional wellness program), Back-up Childcare and many other Wellness Resources.
