Grand Rounds and Faculty Meetings
A departmental Grand Rounds session is scheduled on the second Tuesday of every month, except for July, October, January and April due to Department Faculty Meetings. Each session is held virtually via Zoom and learners receive one hour of CME credit for participation.
Mental Health Awareness Trainings
From summer 2020 through spring 2023, free trainings were regularly offered to the public and various groups to increase mental health awareness in our local communities. Sessions were held virtually or in person and some were available in Spanish. Various topics involving mental health were explored, including childhood experiences, domestic violence, natural disasters, self-care, and substance abuse.
Clinical Research Methods
This two-day intensive course is aimed at training busy healthcare professionals, researchers, and students on the knowledge and skills necessary to understand important concepts in health research, and be able to conduct simple analysis independently using basic software.
ALSO® Provider Course
Annually, Family and Community Medicine hosts an AAFP Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO®) provider course for family medicine residents who provide obstetric care.
Annual Primary Care Update
The Primary Care Update, a one-day conference providing evidence-based advice in a non-commercial setting, is scheduled every year in the fall. The event includes seven hours of CME.
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Trainings
The Collaborative for Alcohol-Free Pregnancy and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention offers a free, online continuing education courses on fetal alcohol spectrum disorders. The courses target practitioners in primary care, integrated care, school and university clinics, and other clinical settings.
